2024 is a breakout year for Lightning in a Bottle Records artist, Andrew Matthews. Since his back to back Portland Waterfront Blues Festival Performances and debut album launch, he is busier than ever and performing in front of ever larger crowds.
On track to 100+ bookings this year, Matthews has performed all over the west coast, including gigs at:
Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival in Indio, CA
Legendary punk venue, The Smell, in Los Angeles, CA
Kalama County Fair in Kelso, WA
Jefferson County Fair in Madras, OR
Sherwood Music Festival in Sherwood, OR
Klamath County Fair in Klamath Falls, OR
Grant County Fair in John Day, OR
Washington State Fair in Puyallup, WA
Also this year, he features in two new band line-ups:
ARENA ROCK GOLD is a professional 80's arena rock cover band that specializes in festival performances around the region and beyond. This year's gigs include the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival in Indio, CA; Kalama Community Fair; Klamath County Fair; and the Washington State Fair.
THE SLIGHTEST BITS are an original alternative/punk rock band making waves in the young Portland rock scene. Matthews, on guitar and lead vocals, has already led the band on a sprawling tour across the west coast, traveling as far as San Diego to Spokane, WA. He brings a new edge to the band’s songs and continues to wow new audiences.
In addition to these bands, as well as being a musician-for-hire for various projects, he also performs in four other professional groups:
The ANDREW MATTHEWS BAND is an exciting blues rock power trio based in Portland, OR signed with Lightning In A Bottle records. After playing Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival 2 years in a row and releasing his debut album, Matthews is taking his band out to audiences far and wide at several fairs and festivals in the region. 2024 finds the Andrew Matthews Band playing huge gigs at the Jefferson County Fair, Grant County Fair, Sherwood Music Festival and more.
THE ROCK DOCTORS are a group of professional musicians dedicated to entertaining audiences with classic rock’s top hits. These doctors specialize in livening up parties with their twin guitar and triple vocal line-up. Matthews provides his professionalism, vast classic rock repertoire, guitar chops, vocals, and ability to work a crowd.
VALHALLA brings the ultimate authentic Led Zeppelin experience to huge classic rock-hungry audiences in the Northwest. The band has performed on big theater stages and has toured Hawaii several times, with plans to return in 2025. As Jimmy Page and Zeppelin are among Matthews’ major influences, a professional Led Zeppelin tribute was the perfect fit when he joined the group in 2023.
THE ROLLING TONES are the Pacific Northwest’s hottest tribute to The Rolling Stones, featuring the exciting & always humorous singer-entertainer, Andy Madson. The 7-piece band blends a fun atmosphere with top musicianship, and was the first working band Matthews joined when live music returned in 2021.

In 2018, Andrew Matthews entered the live music scene under the wing of acclaimed blues guitarist and singer Robbie Laws at the Trail’s End Saloon in Oregon City, OR.
Later that year in Portland, a seed was sown by the prolific modern bluesman Davy Knowles when he gave Matthews the opportunity to jam at a sound check for the “Band of Friends: A celebration of Rory Gallagher”- the legendary Irish blues rock guitarist and singer.
Knowles kindly handed his guitar, a replica of Rory Gallagher’s iconic ‘61 Fender Stratocaster to the then 15 year old, and Matthews sent musical sparks flying onstage with Rory’s former bandmates and world class rhythm section: Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna.
